Featured Products

Pro-Kettlebell Range

The Pro-Kettlebell Range is awesome. The 'bells are finished to a high-quality and are smooth to the touch unlike a number of other brands which are crudely cast and are rough to the touch. This makes them perfect for the higher rep swings and snatches utilised in CrossFit programming.

Athlete of the Month - September 2008 - Emma Maxwell

Emma is currently a medical student at Cardiff University and has been training with Crossfit Westcountry over the summer months during her time back at home for the holidays.

Emma has a good sporting background and as such the main goal has been to teach the basics of CrossFit so that she can apply them when back at Uni.

I've been consistenly impressed with Emma's fast learning and willingness to take new things onboard.

We've covered a lot of ground in a few short months including the main barbell exercises, kettlebell work, basic gymnastic progressions and the beginner drills of Olympic Weightlifting.

Emma will be back at Uni at the end of the month and I'd like to wish her every success with her course and training.

Why CrossFit?

For some people fitness equals survival.

Soldiers, Police and Fire fighters all need high levels of fitness just to be able to stay alive.

What is being adopted worldwide by the Military, Police, Fire Service and many other people who rely on fitness to preserve their lives?

CrossFit.

I know what you're thinking...

"Why would I need that level of fitness in my daily life? I'm just a _________ (insert job title). Why should I train that hard?"

The answer is simple. Do you wish to spend your days incapable of doing even the simplest of tasks without strain or do you want to be able to live life to the full, knowing that you can handle the physical and mental challenges that life throws at you?

Time, aging, and lifestyle conspire to make us fat, weak and put us into long term care homes. The harder we strive for a high level of health and fitness, the further we are from letting life drag us into the nursing home.

If teaching a 57 year old women to lift her bodyweight from the floor seems extreme, think of the grandmother who can't pick up her small grandson or the Dad too unfit to play with his son. Which place do you want to be in?

Very few of us will get to the level of being on the CrossFit website for some outstanding physical feat. We CAN all work diligently to achieve the best effort and results our age and ability allow us to achieve.

In line with the CrossFit method, we teach functional exercises and put them together into constantly varied workouts which are then executed at high intensity.

Why?

Our goal is to create people who are capable in ALL aspects of fitness.

When Special Forces start doing Spinning classes we'll think about using them.

Until then, we will do CrossFit.

Just say NO to lousy training!!
